At Micklefield C of E Primary School we ensure that we provide a curriculum to inspire and enthuse children to understand the importance of Science in the world and the plethora of opportunities available to them once they leave school.  We hope our children will one day be part of changing the world!

Our planning ensures full coverage of the knowledge prescribed in the National Curriculum and teaches the skills required to work as a scientist through cross-curricula links with subjects such as English, Maths and ICT.

We teach children to:

  • communicate ideas using appropriate scientific language
  • evaluate their findings and suggest explanations
  • explore their natural curiosity to ask questions about the world around them
  • investigate and demonstrate their understanding of working scientifically

We welcome visitors to school from our local High School laboratories, family members who share their expertise, scientists currently working in industry and visiting places to explore further on trips.

If you would like any more information please speak to your child's class teacher or Mrs Gillatt.
