We follow the Charanga scheme of work for music. The Charanga Musical School Scheme provides teachers with week by week lesson support for each year group in the school. It is ideal for specialist and non-specialist teachers and provides lesson plans, together with clear progression information, and engaging and exciting whiteboard resources to support every lesson. The Scheme supports all the requirements of the new National Curriculum.  As music is not a stand alone subject, it is also weaved into many things we do, from hymns and songs during Collective Worship, to fun songs to remember key concepts in Maths and English. We also provide our children with opportunities to learn a range of musical skills, such as performing in front of the whole school and parents, for a variety of assemblies.  As they progress through school, they learn to play a brass instrument in band, supporting them in being able to describe and notate the music they play.

Our Progress in Music is tracked according to Focus Education's Key Assessment materials (see below).  Assessment in Music ensures that all musical skills are built upon and developed each year so that each child can access the full Music curriculum.
