In art, learning is driven by the chance to be creative, to learn new skills and to deepen understanding of different artistic techniques. Art activities provide pupils with the opportunity to be creative, to express individualism and to show flare, imagination and originality. The way children express their artistic style is very unique and individual and all art can be appreciated. However, it is important that we assess the children’s understanding of, and their ability to use, the different artistic skill and techniques taught, therefore we assess the children’s knowledge and understanding using Focus Education’s Key Assessment Criteria in Art. Please see below for the objectives in each year group.
